GREAT DAY TO BE A FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLE
Florida State football fans should have had a phenomenal Saturday since the Seminoles won their matchup handily against East Texas A&M by a score of 77-3, while the South Florida Bulls defeated arch-rival Florida in game-winning fashion in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Florida State looks determined to prove the doubters wrong. I remember those pesky Florida fans were all saying that Coach Norvell would get fired soon, but now they want Coach Napier out of Gainesville. It could happen, too, with Florida playing against LSU, Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and Georgia over the next couple of weeks.
I could discuss the Gators' failures all day, but let's get to the topic at hand. Several players shone in the Seminoles' victory over East Texas A&M, but tight end/defensive end Amaree Williams is my x-factor for Florida State.
AMAREE WILLIAMS
This was not a surprise to many as sophomore Amaree Williams was considered the number one athlete in the 2025 recruiting cycle before he reclassified to 2024. The fan base thought that Williams would redshirt last season and be featured at defensive end when his body grows and develops.
However, the coaching staff couldn't resist putting the talent on the field, so they moved him to tight end to ensure that he got reps. Even though the Seminoles had a season to forget in 2024, Williams recorded five receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
The sophomore got a chance to be featured in the offense on Saturday as the coaching staff called a tight end screen that went for a 35-yard touchdown to give Florida State the 56-0 advantage in the third quarter.

Williams talked in the offseason about being a two-way player for Florida State, playing on both offense and defense. He did not stop with the touchdown as he also recorded a sack.
Overall, it is great to see the Seminoles have quality difference makers on their roster. Williams could be in store for a special year if he continues to develop. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.
