FSU FOOTBALL

Florida State football will be taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the season opener on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST. The game will be televised on ABC and will be played in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium.

The Seminole faithful want to see the program put to rest the 2-10 campaign from last year. It was something that I thought we would never witness from Florida State.

However, it happened, and now it is all about how they respond.

RB JAM MILLER INJURY

The biggest obstacle for both Florida State and Alabama is that they have to stay relatively healthy for what should be a physical matchup on August 30th.

Unfortunately, according to multiple reports, Alabama's projected starting running back Jam Miller suffered a dislocated collarbone in a recent scrimmage that will cause him to miss six to eight weeks.

This will ensure that Miller is not the starting running back for the Crimson Tide when they play Florida State. I don't wish injuries on anyone, and I hope he has a speedy recovery. This is a huge deal for Alabama as the talented rusher had 145 carries for 668 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

The next man up? It's youngster Richard Young, who has a significant statistical drop off, with 27 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Let's remember that Young is a former five-star prospect in high school, who even the Seminoles were heavily pursuing, so he isn't some type of scrub.

I will say that I thought that Alabama's original game plan would have been to pound the rock with Miller and then give redshirt junior quarterback Ty Simpson opportunities to throw over the top of the Seminoles' defense when they stack the box. They might go with a different strategy now.
