You probably read that title and were thinking head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, linebackers coach, quarterbacks coach, and so on. Let me tell you, you’re not too far off, because almost all of the coaches on Mike Norvell’s coaching staff need to be fired.

Mike Norvell’s coming back in 2026, so we have to deal with it and hope the structural changes involve hiring some new position coaches or at least one coordinator. I still can’t wrap my mind around how FSU looked against Alabama and how they just fell off like someone stole their athletic ability.

Yes, I’m aware Alabama left some meat on the bone with an inexperienced quarterback, but FSU physically whipped Alabama for the overwhelming majority of that game. Nevertheless, the season happened, and it’s on to what needs to be done on the roster to change things for 2026.

I’ve said this repeatedly, but FSU didn’t lose seven games because it didn’t have enough talent. They had enough talent to win eight or nine games this year, but lacked the ability to make the plans in crunch time. People want to blame it on a lack of talent, but one of the top running back recruits in the country dropped a wide-open pass against Florida on Saturday night.

However, better talent allows greater margins of error, so FSU doesn’t have to play its “A” game to beat inferior teams. I have no idea how or if they will do it, but these five positions have to get upgraded immediately for Mike Norvell to win big in 2026.
