OT MICAH PETTUS
Florida State decided that it had had enough of offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins and relieved him of his duties. Atkins was known to recruit at a high level but the development at the offensive line position unit was to be desired.
With that being said, it was concerning that the Seminoles relied heavily on the transfer portal instead of developing in-house. I did not have a problem with the transfers being brought in, but last year consisted of a veteran group and they were considered to be one of the worst in the country.
The Seminoles went out and added former UCF offensive line coach Herb Hand. He has been at several Power Five institutions. Coach Hand had the task of getting Florida State's offensive line back on track. It wouldn't be an easy solution as the Seminoles have to go back to the well in the transfer portal.
They landed four offensive linemen transfers, and I believe one of the more impactful ones is former Ole Miss offensive tackle Micah Pettus. Pettus stands at 6'7" and 350 pounds. He is a massive human being who had his fair share of ups and downs with his play.
However, he looks to be in line to start at the right tackle position. If he can eliminate some of the shortcomings with penalties, it could be an impactful grab from Florida State.
