WR LAWAYNE MCCOY

I could have chosen so many offensive players on the roster in this spot. Tight end Landen Thomas was my honorable mention. His utilization in the offense recently, with the fact that he is a tight end, made me go in a different direction. However, McCoy is my selection here.

True freshman wide receiver Lawayne McCoy has been a bright spot at times. The coaching staff trusted him enough to handle the punt return duties. However, he is still unproven and has not put up statistics that make you wowed.

Nonetheless, the wide receiver position room for the Seminoles has been one of the worst in college football (a common theme for Florida State in 2024), which is part of the reason why wide receivers coach Ron Dugans was fired.

The brutal truth is that there are no wide receiver prospects committed in the Seminoles' 2025 recruiting class. As a result, Florida State will likely go back to the transfer portal to secure more playmakers and rely on younger pieces such as Lawayne McCoy, Hykeem Williams, Elijah Moore, Camdon Frier, and BJ Gibson.
