Florida State's 2024 season has been a complete train wreck. They have hobbled to a 1-7 record. The Seminole faithful are extremely disappointed, as they hoped the squad could accomplish another conference championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
The Seminoles have one of the worst offenses in all of college football. This is quite odd considering that head football coach Mike Norvell was regarded as one of the best playcallers in the country just a season ago.
Was Norvell just a product of having quarterback Jordan Travis in the offense?
We will see. However, Florida State has to focus on the here and now. The Seminoles have suffered their fair share of low blows, especially on the recruiting trail, where all three wide receiver commits (CJ Wiley, Malik Clark, and Daylan McCutcheon) have backed off their pledges.
Plus, it could worsen as On3's Steve Wiltfong has forecasted four-star tight end commit Chase Loftin to flip from Florida State to Nebraska. I understand that he is from Nebraska, but if the Seminoles did not struggle this much during the year, we wouldn't even be having the conversation.
Nonetheless, the Seminoles have eleven commitments and are ranked as the 48th-best recruiting class according to 247Sports Composite rankings. The coaching staff has prioritized relationships and has been successful in acquiring transfer portal prospects. However, they have missed out on recruits, especially in the offensive and defensive trenches.
One recruit that has stayed strong is four-star running back commit Byron Louis from American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida. Louis committed to the Seminoles back on September 21st when things were going downhill.
The talented back has a great relationship with defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain (former high school football coach) and running backs coach David Johnson. Plus, his high school teammate is four-star defensive back Gregory Thomas, who is also pledged to the program.
Louis went to his Instagram account and posted on his story: "Trust the process!"
It is easy to give up on the Seminoles with their struggles. However, Louis has been a positive voice through the moments of adversity.
