Florida State's 2026 recruiting class is far from finished, as it ranks as the 12th-best according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
One of the biggest question marks is the quarterback position after five-star Brady Smigiel backed off of his pledge. While I understand the reasoning behind the de-commitment, it still doesn't sting any less due to him being a talented signal-caller.
It looks like four-star Landon Duckworth, who was previously involved heavily with former head football coach and current offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, is something that the Seminoles are looking to add to its recruiting class.
If/when Florida State adds a quarterback to its recruiting class, it will need to add offensive linemen that can protect the prospect to give the football to their playmakers and shine in the offense.
The Seminoles already have three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne from Jones High School in Orlando, Florida. However, offensive line coach Herb Hand already has his finger on the foundation of the position group where he secured the likes of four-star Mario Nash Jr., four-star Chastan Brown, three-star Sean Poret, and three-star Chavez Thompson in the 2025 cycle.
Florida State had some big news on the 2026 cycle regarding a talented four-star offensive tackle. Ben Mubenga from Buford, Georgia, has included Florida State in his top five schools list. Mubenga will be officially visiting the Seminoles on June 20th.

I know that Seminole fans get PTSD from recruiting prospects that are from Buford, Georgia, considering what happened with five-star safety KJ Bolden flipping from Florida State to Georgia.
There is a connection with Coach Hand in securing transfers since he had a big haul that could be viable starters for the Seminoles during the 2025 season. I expect him to take Florida State to the next level in recruiting offensive linemen.
The good news with Mubenga is that he will officially visit LSU (May 30), Arkansas (June 6), NC State (June 13), and Florida State (June 20). It helps that the Seminoles get the last visit of the mentioned schools. However, we saw how that has panned out in the past.
He would be a talented haul that the Seminoles should celebrate over.
