The DJ Uiagalalei experiment at FSU was an utter disaster in 2024. The former five-star quarterback transfer wasn’t the leader the players on that team needed, and unfortunately, he suffered an injury that limited his game before another injury ultimately ended his season early.

However, the blame can’t squarely go on Uiagalalei. The offensive line was atrocious, and FSU had no running game, partly due to the issues on the offensive line, Uiagalelei’s injury, and the subpar receiving unit.

FSU head coach Mike Norvell set out to rectify all of those issues, including hiring a new offensive coordinator after the season concluded. Unlike the 2024 season, it’s easy to see how these puzzle pieces fit together, and the offense can’t get any worse than last year.

I know it’s a low bar when I say Thomas Castellanos can outshine what DJ Uiagalelei did in 2024. However, I don’t think it’s going to be close, as long as they can stay healthy. Here are three undeniable reasons Castellanos will outshine what Uiagalelei did last year.
