FSU FOOTBALL SEASON OPENER
Florida State football is only three weeks away from taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium.
The Seminoles want to turn the page after the abysmal 2024 campaign, where the program finished with a 2-10 record. Head football coach Mike Norvell knew that massive changes needed to be made if Florida State wanted a chance to get back to respectability again.
The discussion during the offseason has been about the new acquisitions on the roster for the Seminoles. However, I want to highlight redshirt sophomore defensive back Edwin Joseph Jr. and sophomore running back Kam Davis, who both wear the No. 3 jersey, since there are three weeks before the season starts.
RB KAM DAVIS
The rushing attack was not a special facet of the Seminoles' game plan in 2024, where they recorded 89.3 yards per game. Florida State had a duo of Kam Davis and Lawrance Toafili that they relied on. The fan base was excited to see the youngster Kam Davis in action, but he only recorded 173 yards the entire season. Fast-forwarding to 2025, they added veteran Gavin Sawchuk and young star Ousmane Kromah, so carries could be limited for the Georgia native this season.
DB EDWIN JOSEPH JR.
The former four-star defensive back brings the energy that the Seminoles need each time that he takes the field. Even though it was a loss, that bone-crushing hit that he had on special teams versus Georgia Tech was sensational and showcased a player who had a lot of heart. Joseph Jr. looks to start at safety in Tony White's defense alongside Earl Little Jr. He could be a household name in 2025.
