OL JOHNNIE JONES
Florida State has been on four-star offensive lineman Johnnie Jones from Venice, Florida, for a while. The physical run blocker has been on the Seminoles' campus before, where he officially visited Florida State on the weekend of May 30th, but he hasn't been back since.
Jones looked firm in his pledge to UCLA, but with DeShaun Foster being canned, the commitment status is off the table. The coaching staff is finally able to effectively enter the race for acquiring his services.
It always seemed strange that he committed to the Bruins when they were all the way on the West Coast, but it is also understandable that NIL plays such a pivotal part in the recruitment process. There are high school prospects that the coaching staff has to monitor themselves to ensure that they do not spend too much time and resources unless it is necessary.
This is a prospect that the Seminoles need to grab in their recruiting class. This would be a chance to get a big mauler in the fold, but schools such as Miami, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Colorado, and others are involved in the recruitment.
