FSU FOOTBALL
Florida State football has generated excitement this fall as the Seminole fan base is optimistic for the season opener versus Alabama in less than four weeks.
We are officially in fall camp season, and the program isn't taking it easy as the Crimson Tide are coming to Tallahassee on Saturday, August 30th, to erase the 9-4 season that they had from a year ago.
Head football coach Mike Norvell always wants his squad to face adversity and handle it well. The 2-10 record was a shock to many individuals last year. However, Coach Norvell wants to ensure that the result was an outlier to what the Seminoles' program is.
ON TO JACKSONVILLE
Florida State football has spent its time working in Tallahassee for fall camp. However, the last couple of years, Mike Norvell has made his teams travel to Jacksonville, Florida (to the North Florida campus) for three days to respond to being in a new environment.
This is a good bonding experience for a squad that needs all of the help that it can get after the abysmal 2024 campaign. However, the Seminoles look as confident as ever to turn this thing around.
In this article, I want to highlight three players to monitor for the Seminoles' Jacksonville football practices.
1. QB THOMAS CASTELLANOS
We have heard how much of a leader former UCF and Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos has been this offseason for the Seminoles. His squad will need him to command the offense in the new environment and rally the troops together.
2. WR SQUIRREL WHITE
I know that the coaching staff has highlighted wide receivers Duce Robinson, Jayvan Boggs, and Elijah Moore in the post-practice interviews. However, I believe that this is the time that the former Tennessee Volunteer makes his presence. He can make this offense dynamic after recording over 800 yards in the SEC during the 2023 season. White has to stay healthy, though.
3. DB SHYHEIM BROWN
The veteran defensive back Shyheim Brown hasn't been mentioned much by the coaching staff. Options such as Earl Little Jr., Edwin Joseph, KJ Kirkland, and even Ashlynd Barker have emerged as names at the safety position. The veteran has been around the program for a while and has been productive here. I imagine that the coaching staff is pushing him with added competition.
