Florida State football hosted a Legacy Weekend event on campus this weekend. The Seminoles already started the event off with a bang as three-star offensive lineman Mike Ionata from Calvary Christian School in Clearwater, Florida, committed to the Seminoles. It was only fitting that Ionata was a legacy prospect.
The coaching staff still has a ways to go with constructing the rest of its 2026 class. The Seminoles hosted several highly-touted recruits on campus this weekend such as:
4-star QB Bowe Bentley |
---|
4-star RB Jae Lamar |
4-star WR Jayden Petit |
4-star OT Heze Kent |
3-star OT Xavier Payne (FSU commit) |
4-star IOL Graham Houston |
3-star IOL Mike Ionata (FSU commit) |
4-star DT Deuce Geralds |
4-star DE Jabarrius Garror (2027; Alabama commit) |
5-star LB Xavier Griffin (USC commit) |
4-star LB Kaden Henderson (2027) |
4-star LB Malik Morris |
4-star CB Samari Matthews |
4-star CB Lasiah Jackson |
4-star CB Andre Clark |
That is a ton of top-tier in Tallahassee at one time. There is a portion of the fan base that wants to see head football coach Mike Norvell have more of an emphasis on high school recruiting as opposed to collecting every need in the transfer portal.
The Seminoles had a tremendous finish to the 2025 cycle, so we will see if that aspect dwindles over to the 2026 version. In this article, I want to feature three prospects that visited this weekend and could commit to the Seminoles.
4-STAR IOL GRAHAM HOUSTON
I realize that everyone has PTSD from former five-star prospect KJ Bolden, who flipped to Georgia during the Early Signing Period. Bolden went to Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. Ironically enough, four-star interior offensive lineman Graham Houston from Buford.
He has a top four schools list of Florida State, Florida, Ole Miss, and Georgia. Luckily, he will be officially visiting the Seminoles on June 20th, which is the last trip of his schedule.
5-STAR LB XAVIER GRIFFIN (USC COMMIT)
This could cause anxiety with Florida State football fans as the Seminoles are in it for another highly-touted linebacker prospect with five-star Xavier Griffin from Gainesville, Georgia. Griffin has made it a priority to visit Tallahassee, but he still remains committed to USC.
The Trojans have locked in his official visit for June 20th, but with the Trojans being so far away from him, this could be a recruitment that could linger until the end. It would be a smart investment for Florida State's coaching staff to get him on campus multiple times during the fall. This would be a great pickup for the Seminoles.
4-STAR QB BOWE BENTLEY
Florida State has been in full pursuit of four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley since former five-star commit Brady Smigiel backed off of his pledge from the Seminoles. The coaching staff went out and offered Bentley and four-star Landon Duckworth.
Bentley now has schools such as Colorado, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State offer him recently, so the Seminoles have some competition now. As it relates to Florida State, they have not scheduled an official visit yet with the quarterback but it would be ideal to get something scheduled.
