INJURIES DIDN'T MATTER IN 2024
Florida State football did not need an injury to derail the dumpster fire that was the 2024 season. Head football coach Mike Norvell understood that the lofty expectations and standards of the program were not met.
The Seminoles now enter 2025, and Norvell has an administration that has full faith in him, even with the 2-10 season. Even with the doubters outside the program and some of the fan base, he has made significant differences that should allow Florida State to succeed.
PHYSICALITY IS A MUST
However, as many know, football is a contact sport, and injuries happen. The Seminoles want to be a physical team on offense and defense. There is a trade-off to that perspective, where there could be some players who could get dinged up.
With that said, here are three Florida State football players who must stay healthy to maximize results for the 2025 season.
QB THOMAS CASTELLANOS
The quarterback position is very important for the success of a football team. This isn't to say that other signal-callers on the roster, such as Brock Glenn and Kevin Sperry, wouldn't be successful. However, the Seminoles added former Boston College quarterback transfer Thomas Castellanos this offseason due to his experienced skill set and familiarity with offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.
WR SQUIRREL WHITE
Florida State added two wide receivers via the transfer portal in USC's Duce Robinson and Tennessee's Squirrel White. The former Volunteer has the capability of being successful, with 803 receiving yards in 2023, but injuries have plagued his career. He is recovering from a PCL injury, but if he is healthy, it will give Castellanos a dynamic weapon in the slot to throw to.
OT GUNNAR HANSEN
Yes, I know... It is another offensive player. Do you see a common theme here? The offense will be pivotal in determining the Seminoles' success in 2025. The offensive line needs to stay healthy to generate a solid running game and keep Thomas Castellanos healthy. The offensive line was horrific last year, but I think offensive tackle transfer Gunnar Hansen needs to be healthy due to the depth at the position. I wonder if pieces such as Lucas Simmons and Jonathan Daniels will be ready.
