The Florida State Seminoles are entering Week 5 of the 2026 season badly needing a win. The Noles are 2-2 with no wins in the ACC this season, and this matchup versus the Virginia Cavaliers should give FSU the ability to get in the win column and exorcise some demons from last season.
No player should want that more than wide receiver Duce Robinson. Robinson played one of the best games of his career last year in the heartbreaking overtime loss to Virginia. In that game, Robinson accounted for 147 receiving yards and a touchdown on nine receptions. The only reception that will haunt him is the one that almost happened in the end zone to score a much-needed touchdown in crunch time.
Florida State must get Duce Robinson going early against Virginia
Robinson caught the ball barely out of bounds, and FSU fans will likely remember the taunting he received from Virginia fans who were already crowding the sideline to storm the field.
In the same way that moment effectively stalled FSU's ACC run that season, the Seminoles can do the exact same thing this weekend. The Seminoles are underdogs at home against an ACC opponent that is still very much alive outside of a single loss to West Virginia. The stakes may not be as high this time around with neither team ranked, but that doesn't matter for the Noles.
Virginia has been stingy defensively this season, especially against passing attacks, but the Cavaliers also haven't faced a wide receiver as good as Robinson. Florida State needs its passing attack to succeed to open up the run game, and all of that starts with Duce Robinson being the player every fan knows he can be.
If Robinson is playing well on Saturday, the Noles have done almost everything they need to do to be successful on the offensive side of the ball.
