The Florida State Seminoles are inching closer to the start of fall camp. Things will get underway on July 29th, with the season starting one month later on August 29th against New Mexico State. The pressure is on for Mike Norvell's team to bounce back after two losing seasons.
Fall camp will give players the chance to get some valuable reps before the season begins, while also giving a glimpse at who could be a valuable asset for this team. Multiple guys will make strides for them this season, and below we'll discuss three players to keep an eye on during camp.
3 players fans should watch during Florida State fall camp
1. Quintrevion Wisner
Wisner decided to transfer over to Florida State for his final year of eligibility. While Wisner won't wow anyone with his athleticism, he's going to be a reliable player in the backfield. Fansided's Josh Yourish broke down Wisner's game, where he discussed some strengths of his.
"He reads out runs exceptionally well, especially in the outside zone game, which it seems FSU may lean into more with Norvell calling the plays again and a bigger-bodied dual-threat QB in Ashton Daniels capable of running counter or inside zone stuff off the backside of option plays. Wisner isn’t going to wow you with his route-running or ball skills, but he’s a natural pass-catcher who excels in the screen game. He’s also, critically, a reliable pass-protector," Yourish wrote.
And while he may not have a specific standout factor, his ability to do multiple things well will work in his favor. Over 38 games with the Longhorns, he compiled 1,734 rushing yards and nine rushing scores. He also added 66 receptions for 457 receiving yards and two more scores.
Even though Florida State still has Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton Jr. in the mix in the backfield, Wisner has a chance to come out of camp as RB1.
2. Jayvan Boggs
Boggs is entering his sophomore year. Last year, Boggs made history, as he became the first true freshman in school history to start the opener. Unfortunately, injuries slowed down his campaign, as he finished with nine catches for 103 receiving yards and one touchdown in eight games.
Last spring, Boggs was a standout in practice, yet he wasn't able to translate that onto the football field. With a year under his belt, he should be more impactful this season. Having Duce Robinson will certainly help, but Boggs will need to take advantage of what's in front of him. Robinson is the only receiver locked into a starting role, so if Boggs makes plays this camp, he can secure a job.
Boggs has the inside track to be the starting slot receiver. He has to stay healthy, and if he's able to make plays in practice, as he did a year ago, he'll be on the right path entering the 2026 season.
3. Daniel Lyons
Lyons is entering his redshirt senior season and is ready to build off what he did last year. He started in all 12 games last year for the first time in his Seminole career. In those outings, he finished with 26 total tackles, 3.5 TFLs, and two sacks.
His presence on the field earned him the Most Improved award by the team. And with Darrell Jackson Jr. departing for the NFL, Lyons has the runway to have a bigger role. Considering there's a lot of youth upfront, Florida State will lean on Lyons' experience.
Throughout his Florida State career, he has been a solid rotational piece. 2026 should be his best season yet, and he should use fall camp as his springboard into the campaign. Making plays in practice will give the staff and fans confidence in what he can do this season.
