The Florida State Seminoles have been gearing up for the 2026 campaign, but they are still looking down the line. Even with uncertainty swirling around his job status, Mike Norvell has set out to assemble his 2028 recruiting class, and so far, he has two commits in place.
Three-star athlete Chayse Brown committed to Florida State on June 11, but despite that, he has several visits lined up for the 2026 season. Kolby Crawford of 247Sports revealed that Brown has gameday visits with Florida State (Aug. 29), Florida (Sept. 5), Louisville (Sept. 19), LSU (Oct. 10), and North Carolina (Oct. 24).
Although Brown is still committed to Florida State, he is making his rounds to multiple schools, which could make some fans feel uneasy.

Brown is clearly most excited about Florida State, as he committed to the school and made it his first visit. While that's encouraging, Brown is likely making his rounds to solidify his choice and see if there are any potential better options for him.
Even with Brown committed to FSU, these other schools have to feel some hope that they could sway him. They would likely need to make some really hard pushes to get him to sway over, but the door is still open a crack.
Nonetheless, Florida State is in the driver's seat, and they should still feel confident about him going into the fall. Brown is listed at 6-foot-1 and weighs 165 pounds, with the ability to play on both sides of the ball. He lined up at receiver and safety as a sophomore at Lennard High School.
During the 2025 campaign, Brown finished with 20 catches for 334 receiving yards (16.7 yards per reception) and three touchdowns. On the defensive side, he tallied six tackles and one interception.
According to 247Sports, he is ranked No. 611 nationally and the No. 79 overall player in the state of Florida. With him still having some time in high school to continue developing his skills, his ceiling can still rise.
Troy Silberzahn is the other player in the 2028 class who has already committed to Florida State, which shows the program still has work to do to secure talent. The future of Mike Norvell still hangs in the balance for this team. The success of this team in 2026 will have a massive impact on whether he stays or goes.
Regardless, the culture that Florida State has built already left a positive impression on Brown. These visits may be nothing more than him doing his due diligence to round out his recruiting process. The Seminoles already did the heavy lifting. They got him to commit to the school, and now he's just making rounds to see other universities.
Obviously, you never know how things could change during the recruiting cycle, but Florida State should feel good about Brown. Time will tell how his visits go, yet the Seminoles are still firmly in the driver's seat.
