FSU football is finally getting quality transfer portal news. The coaching staff at Florida State is notorious for acquiring highly-touted experienced transfers in the portal.

In today’s landscape of college football, programs need acquisitions in the transfer portal sometimes to fill with viable players at positions of need (sorry Clemson… you wouldn’t understand).

Florida State fans are quite aware of the impact that redshirt senior quarterback Jordan Travis had on the program. It was ultimately a good challenge to see how they respond to adversity when Travis suffered his season-ending injury versus North Alabama.

The veteran signal caller was the leader of the football team, and it can difficult to replace the likes of his talent. However, football is a team sport. It is not an individual sport.

Understandably so, fans are frustrated with the College Football Playoff committee after they elected to snub an undefeated ACC champion Florida State for a one-loss SEC champion Alabama due to the fact of poor quarterback play after the Travis injury.

With redshirt senior quarterback Jordan Travis’ eligibility coming to an end and redshirt freshman AJ Duffy entering the transfer portal, the Seminoles likely have to turn to a veteran option in the transfer portal with only three scholarship signal callers on the roster (if four-star Luke Kromenhoek signs with FSU).

In a previous article I wrote, the likely candidates are Oregon State’s DJ Uiagalelei and Washington State’s Cameron Ward.

On Tuesday afternoon, ESPN College Football Senior Writer Pete Thamel reported that Oregon State transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei will be taking an official visit to Florida State this weekend.

If everything goes well on the visit, the Seminoles could have themselves a veteran signal caller with starting experience who could compete with the other scholarship quarterbacks and allow the younger players more time to learn and develop.
