FSU football finished its regular season undefeated, winning the ACC Championship against the Louisville Cardinals.

A big factor in that win was the play of the FSU defensive line. Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, and Patrick Payton all had big games. Two of those players came to FSU from the transfer portal, so FSU has been one of the largest beneficiaries of that option.

The player that was homegrown and developed from the high school ranks, Patrick Payton, decided to enter this name into the transfer portal.

The portal gives and taketh, but Payton isn’t the first FSU player to enter the portal. Others like Malik McClain, and Treshaun Ward, both starters at times, entered the portal last year and got opportunities at other Power 5 schools.

Payton entering the portal seemed to catch FSU football fans by surprise on social media. The responses ranged from FSU must do whatever it takes to keep him to go and get paid, young man.

I know fans have gotten attached to many players on this team because this team was easy to root for. The college football we grew to love is no more.

Let’s talk about the impact of Payton entering the portal.
