FSU football: 5-star WR Jeremiah Smith taking no visits after Noles’ OV
FSU football is setting itself up to have a fantastic finish to its 2024 recruiting class. The Seminoles currently have the third-best recruiting class, according to the 247Sports’ Composite rankings.
The coaching staff is shooting for the stars when it comes to bringing in highly-touted prospects. One prospect to keep in mind is Class of 2024 Ohio State wide receiver commit Jeremiah Smith from Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida.
Florida State currently has four wide receiver prospects committed in their recruiting class with four-stars Camdon Frier, BJ Gibson, Elijah Moore, and Lawayne McCoy. With current pass catchers such as redshirt junior Johnny Wilson and junior Keon Coleman (we expect) declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft, the Seminoles will have to find a method to replenish the depth at the position.
While I understand that the talented five-star pass catcher has been committed to the Buckeyes since December 2022, he has showcased mutual interest in the Seminoles. Smith unofficially visited Tallahassee when Florida State defeated its arch-rival Miami Hurricanes on November 11th.
To make matters even better, he will officially visit Florida State this weekend. According to a report from On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, Smith has no visits planned after the official visit.
However, he will have in-home visits with schools such as Ohio State, Florida State, Miami, and Florida. It does seem encouraging that the Seminoles will get the last official visit before the Early Signing Period begins on December 20th.
With that being said, Florida State still needs to find a way to seal the deal and get the talented pass catcher in the recruiting class. Smith is obviously one of their top targets on their board. He is a can’t-miss talent that wide receivers coach Ron Dugans and company cannot afford to miss. However, Ohio State will do everything in its power to keep Smith in the fold.
It is about to be a wild ride Seminole fans, buckle up!
