Florida State National Championship odds (Are Seminoles making College Football Playoff?)
By Reed Wallach
Florida State completed an undefeated regular season by defeating Louisville 16-6 in the ACC Championship, but now what?
The Seminoles are at the center of one of the most hotly debated College Football Playoff topics ever. Should Florida State make it to the National Semifinals despite starting third string quarterback Brock Glenn in the ACC Championship, or should the Selection Committee pass the team over for a one loss Alabama, Texas or Georgia?
We are in uncharted waters as it pertains to the CFP discussion. Typically, an undefeated Power Five champion is locked into the top four, we haven’t seen an instance where that hasn’t happened. However, Florida State has dropped off offensively since losing star quarterback Jordan Travis to a torn ACL, opening the door for a one loss Power Five champion to take its place.
UPDATE: Florida State was ranked No. 5 in the final College Football Playoff rankings, leaving them out of the CFP.
The debate has raged on social media through the night following FSU’s title victory and we will find out soon enough as the CFP is released at 12 p.m. EST.
While it’s not predictive by any means, sportsbooks have been offering props for if Florida State will make the CFP, and the odds are skewed in the Seminoles direction.
Florida State odds to make College Football Playoff
However, we can see that there’s a big drop in the National Championship odds as Florida State isn’t seen as a true contender, even if the Seminoles get the nod to the CFP.
