FSU football won the ACC Championship Game versus the Louisville Cardinals by a score of 16-6 to secure its first conference championship since 2014.

While it was not a perfect performance, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and his unit played their hearts out to allow this football team to win the game. The Seminoles’ offensive unit struggled for much of the night as they trotted out true freshman quarterback Brock Glenn, who stepped in for redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker.

Florida State was only able to muster 219 offensive yards. I never envisioned a performance where the Seminoles’ offense closely resembled the mighty Iowa Hawkeyes, but here we are.

It would have been easy for the FSU defensive unit to give up after the offense went stagnant, which they converted only 2 of their 16 third down conversions. However, they forced Louisville to only gain 188 total yards on the night. This was a Cardinals’ unit that was 26th in the FBS in total offense (438.6) and 31st in the FBS in points-per-game (33).

There were some fans out there who have consistently doubted defensive coordinator Adam Fuller’s abilities as a coach. I am here to tell you that Fuller has done an exceptional job in making proper adjustments with this defense, and this is a unit that should be celebrated.

Florida State’s defensive line played with their hair on fire all night as they made it difficult for Louisville quarterback Jack Plummer to get comfortable. The veteran signal-caller completed 14 of his 36 passes for 111 yards and an interception. The defense as a whole was able to generate seven sacks and 14 tackles for loss.

While I realize that this defense will have to continue playing at an elite level if it wants to accomplish its ultimate goal of winning a championship, Adam Fuller and his unit deserve their flowers for their performance in Saturday night’s slugfest.
