Florida State’s defensive unit has done well with generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks in recent weeks. One of their top defenders, in defensive end Jared Verse, has stepped up to the plate with his production. The former Albany transfer currently has 35 total tackles (9.5 tackles for loss) and seven sacks during the 2023 season.

Verse made his decision this offseason to return to Tallahassee for unfinished business. This will likely be his last opportunity to make his presence known to put Florida State in the College Football Playoff. The Louisville Cardinals rank No. 55 in the FBS in sacks allowed (1.83 sacks per game).

The Cardinals’ offense will likely try to neutralize this pass rush attack where they will get the football out of quarterback Jack Plummer’s hands with a variety of slants and crossing routes. The Seminoles’ defense is comfortable in man coverage. With that being said, the defensive line will have to be active in getting their hands up to bat the football away as well as get Plummer off of his spot to throw the football.
