FSU football is preparing for its game versus the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC Championship on Saturday night. The Seminoles are favored by 1.5 points with an over/under of 47.5.

This will be a daunting task for head football coach Mike Norvell and company to navigate through considering that Florida State will be without redshirt senior quarterback Jordan Travis, who suffered a season-ending injury versus North Alabama.

The Seminoles had to play redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker in his place where he completed 12 of his 23 passes for 134 yards in their 24-15 victory over the Florida Gators. The moment seemed to be too bright at times for the Valdosta (GA) native, but he was able to settle himself down in the second half.

With 3:45 left to go in the fourth quarter, Florida State was faced with a 3rd & 14 on their own 42-yard line. Rodemaker did not see anything open downfield. As a result, the signal caller decided to try and pick up the conversion with his legs.

When he realized that he was not going to make the line to gain, he elected to slide to protect himself (it was a bit of a late decision slide), two Florida Gator defenders tried to deliver a jarring hit, and defensive end Princely Umanmielen led with the crown of his helmet. This resulted in a 15-yard personal foul penalty with targeting. Quarterback Tate Rodemaker took a little while to get up from the hit and true freshman Brock Glenn had to enter the game.

The Glenn experiment was short-lived as Rodemaker entered the game to hand the football off to running back Trey Benson for his 26-yard touchdown run to seal the victory for the Seminoles.

On Thursday night, rumors were swirling on Twitter (X) that the backup quarterback could be in concussion protocol.

Florida State coaching staff is known for not disclosing injuries. They are very generous in terms of allowing their media members to have access to their practices. In my humble opinion, I would like to see how this situation plays out before making any speculation on the matter.

In terms of Saturday’s contest, this was already a difficult game for the Florida State Seminoles to overcome even if Rodemaker were the one taking the starting reps. However, this football team is built to handle the high levels of adversity and you cannot count them out. Whether it is Rodemaker, Glenn, Duffy, or even Alex Hornibrook (kidding…) at quarterback, the Seminoles will be ready for the Cardinals.
