FSU football has generated a ton of momentum in the recruiting trail in the 2024 cycle. The Seminoles are ranked No. 3 in the 247Composite rankings behind Georgia and Ohio State.

The one positional that has been impressive this witness with acquiring talent is in the secondary. First-year defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has made his presence felt with his recruiting prowess with getting pledges from talented prospects such as five-star safety KJ Bolden, five-star cornerback Charles Lester III, four-star cornerback Jamari Howard, and four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III.

As I alluded to in a previous article, the Seminoles seemed like they were not finished with constructing their recruiting class at the position. One prospect that was being monitored closely was four-star cornerback Cai Bates from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida. He had crystal ball predictions in favor of the Seminoles.

On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons stated in a recent update that the talented defender could making a decision very soon and Florida State was a team that he was heavily considering.

On Friday morning, Bates made his intentions known as he officially committed to Florida State. This was a massive recruiting victory for the coaching staff as the defensive back has pledged to head football coach Mike Norvell and company.

The former LSU commit decommitted from their program on November 13th. For reference, he unofficially visited the Seminoles when they defeated arch-rival Miami by a score of 27-20 on November 11th. The program seem to make a big impression on the highly-touted prospect.

It will be interesting to see how the Seminoles’ recruiting class will conclude since Florida State is riding so much momentum at the moment.

For reference, the Early Signing Period begins on December 20th and FSU will have several prospects on campus for official visits this month before it takes place.

Buckle up Seminole fans, things could get very interesting.
