FSU football saw its AP top 25 ranking drop to No. 5 in week 13 after their win over the North Alabama Lions Saturday night.

The Noles had been at No. 4 for several weeks, but Washington’s narrow road win over No. 11 Oregon State was enough to influence AP voters to move the Huskies ahead of the Noles.

FSU played an FCS team and overcame a 13-0 deficit in the first quarter to score 58 unanswered points.

I have no problem with the drop in the ranking because FSU will have an opportunity to prove their worth with games against Florida and No. 9 Louisville in the ACC championship game on December 2.

If FSU wins those two games, they will make the College Football Playoffs despite not having Jordan Travis at quarterback. Also, Washington will play Washington State this week and likely rematch Oregon in the Pac-12 conference championship game.

Michigan and Ohio State will play this week, with the loser likely eliminated from the College Football Playoffs. Alabama and Georgia will play this week as well.

All FSU can do is win and control their destiny. If they defeat Florida and Louisville, the latter’s high ranking should prove FSU is worthy to compete among the top four teams without Jordan Travis.

I know FSU fans constantly worry if they’ll be left out of the College Football Playoffs because media talking heads can’t hide their bias for the SEC or teams that play on specific networks. Interestingly enough, FSU remains at No. 4 in the Coaches Poll.

FSU has one of the best defenses in the nation and some of the most talented wide receivers tight ends, and running backs on offense. They are -12 betting favorites against Florida and will likely be betting favorites against Louisville in the ACCCG.
