FSU football: What announcers will call North Alabama game?
By Kelvin Hunt
No. 4 FSU football (10-0) will be back in action Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in a matchup against the North Alabama Lions (3-7).
The Noles will air on CW channel this week, after spending the majority of the time on ABC and ESPN this year. It’s only the second game to not air on either of those channels.
The broadcast trio on CW will feature Tom Werme, James Bates, Treavor Scales. Werme is a Syracuse gradute who covers ACC basketball and football for the CW.
Bates was an All-SEC First team linebacker for the Florida Gators when Steve Spurrier was the head coach. Scales has worked at ESPN, Bally Sports South, and the CW.
FSU football fans have been spoiled with solid announcing on ABC and ESPN for the most part this year. They had one game on the ACC Network that was awful, and I’m not expecting too much from this crew on the CW, especially since one is a former Gator.
FSU plays the Gators in the season finale, so I’m sure we’ll have some references to that game. FSU should win this game easily and I expect the backups to play meaningful snaps.
That means this crew will probably have a lot of time to fill. If it becomes to unbearable, FSU fans can always tun into Jeff Culhane on the Seminoles.com.
It’ll be a memorable game with so many FSU impact players playing their final game in Doak Campbell Stadium. The game is sold out, which is surprising, considering the opponent. However, it’s a testament to how these fans feel about the players on this team. It’s only fitting players like Jordan Travis, Kalen DeLoach, Renardo Green, Fabien Lovett, Jarrian Jones, Jared Verse, Akeem Dent, and others receive the flowers they deserve for what they’ve experienced in the garnet and gold.
