FSU football: 5 reasons win over Miami widens gap between programs
By Kelvin Hunt
Future at Quarterback
Here’s the big one. The two programs are in two different galaxies at the most important position on the field. Mike Norvell’s track record with quarterbacks is superb. The development of Jordan Travis is unlike anything most of us have ever seen.
Mario Cristobal is the head coach where first-round talents like Justin Herbert play for and regress. Just look at Tyler Van Dyke, who’s a shell of what he was. Miami doesn’t have a quarterback on its roster with any potential of playing in the NFL. The three-star QB committed in their 2024 class? He’s not it, either.
FSU has a guy on its roster who knows Mike Norvell’s system well after arriving in 2020. Brock Glenn early enrolled and showed great flashes in what will be a redshirt season this year. Five-star commit Luke Kromenhoek will early enrollee at FSU in January.
The future at the quarterback position is so much brighter in Tallahassee than in Coral Gables that it’s not funny.
FSU knows what not having a good option at that position looks like. It’s how I know Miami’s in trouble unless they can catch lightning in a bottle from the transfer portal or something.
However, what top quarterback would want to play in that offense that has only scored 30 points once in a game before it went into garbage time against Power 5 competition?
So tell me exactly how Miami has closed the gap on FSU again?
