Florida State football: 6 players who (probably) won’t be back in 2024

All Mike Norvell’s Florida State Seminoles need to do to secure a spot in the 2023 College Football Playoff is win out. FSU is already at No. 4 in the first two weeks of CFP rankings. In his fourth year in Tallahassee, the rebuild is complete.

Now comes the hard part, sustaining excellence. FSU is loaded with talent, especially a crop of juniors and redshirt juniors who are likely to make the jump to the NFL next year. So, it’s important to think about what players the Seminoles will need to replace to stay at the top of the ACC.

Norvell built this team through the transfer portal, but the portal goes both ways and looking ahead to 2024, there could be some Seminoles who head out the door in search of more opportunities.

If not through the transfer portal, we do know that there are multiple NFL-caliber players on this Florida State roster. The Seminoles could produce multiple first-round NFL draft picks in 2024. Norvell will have his work cut out for him to replace these players who will probably leave early and won’t be back next season.

1. Keon Coleman, junior

Like I said, Mike Norvell built through the portal, in fact he dominated the portal. Keon Coleman wasn’t expected to be the best transfer in the country this season, but that’s what he’s turned into.

Last year at Michigan State, Coleman racked up 798 yards and seven touchdowns on 58 catches. His numbers lag behind a bit this year with 562 yards and 10 TDs on 42 catches, but his impact has been huge.

Coleman has made some of the most impressive catches of the season and at 6-foot-4 215 pounds, he’s projected to be a first-round NFL draft pick. There’s almost no way that Coleman will head back to Florida State after his junior season. He’s been dominant and could go in the top 10 of the draft.
