FSU Offense Went To The Air

The strength of the Wake Forest defense was how they attacked the run. I noted how the two last teams Wake Forest played had thrown for over 300 yards against them, so I expected Jordan Travis to have a big day through the air.

FSU wasted no time spreading Wake Forest out and slinging the ball to Keon Coleman on the first drive. The first four plays were passes to him, and six of the nine plays were through the air. Jordan Travis threw the ball 35 times for 359 yards and three touchdowns.

FSU began to mix in the run as the game progressed to balance things out. They ultimately ran the ball 30 times, with Trey Benson having a better day on the ground than I expected.

He had 55 rushing yards on 10 carries and, but also had a big part in the passing game. Benson had four receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. Keon Coleman was amazing, with seven receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Jaheim Bell had four receptions for 51 yards, and Kentron Poitier had his first reception this season. FSU had at least eight passing plays that went over 20+ yards.

This aspect gives the remaining teams on the schedule something to think about.
