Aggressive Against The Run

Wake Forest Head Coach Dave Clawson remarked at how explosive the FSU offense can be in his press conference earlier this week. I suspect he’ll look to take a page out of Duke’s playbook and sellout to stop the run, while playing two safeties deep to try and prevent explosive plays.

They’ll look to make FSU execute double-digit play scoring drives to shorten the game, while hoping FSU can’t execute efficiently.

Duke found some success with that tactic in the first three quarters, but didn’t have the horsepower to keep up for four quarters. I suspect the same will hold Saturday, but Wake Forest will come downhill and play with physicality.

They have 45 tackles for a loss and allow 3.89 yards per play. They shut down Trey Benson last season, but Treshaun Ward had some solid success against them. This is a game where someone like Rodney Hill or Caziah Holmes might be able to exploit some things.

Jordan Travis could run for days if he chose, because their ends crash hard on read options, but FSU won’t run him unless they have to.
