FSU football: Armondo Blount receives updated 2024 ranking
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football received a major boost Sunday afternoon when Armondo Blount flipped his commitment from Miami to FSU. He fits a position of need and has reclassified to the 2024 class after originally being in the 2025 recruiting class.
Blount’s ranking as a 2025 recruit was a five-star ranking, and the No. 6 overall player overall. The question was where would he rank with the move into the 2024 recruiting cycle. The biggest factor was he’d be nearly a year younger than most guys in the 2024 class.
How would that project to the future? It turns out he’s such a talented player with a tremendous upside that it didn’t change much. Most of the recruiting sites have updated their rankings to reflect the change.
Blount is No. 20 player overall and is still considered a five-star prospect. His addition to the 2024 recruiting class and updated ranking pushes the Noles ahead of Alabama and Texas A&M for the No. 4 spot overall.
FSU has 22 commitments and will look to potentially add 2-3 more out of the high school ranks. Four-star cornerback Jamari Howard announced he’ll make his decision on November 11th. FSU is recruiting some Miami and Florida commits, so the next few weeks will be pivotal in those recruitments. The good news?
FSU plays both teams and can make a statement about where all three teams stand. The Noles will be betting favorites against both programs. I wrote about the impact of the Armondo Blount commitment here.
However, it highlights what the coaching staff has done on the recruiting trail addressing roster needs. They have met every need with quality players for the most part, and whoever they land from now on is icing on the cake. Stay tuned because things are about to get scary in Tallahassee!
