FSU football: 5-star DE Armondo Blount commits to the Seminoles
FSU football had a successful Saturday night as the Seminoles defeated the Duke Blue Devils by a score of 38-20 in a sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium.
To make matters even better, there were a variety of highly-touted prospects in attendance to witness what went down on Saturday night.
On notable prospect visiting was five-star defensive end Armondo Blount from Miami Central High School in Miami, Florida. The talented defender had been a Miami commit since September 14, but he recently received a crystal ball in favor of the Seminoles from Noles247 Contributor Zach Blostein.
By all accounts, Blount appeared to enjoy what he saw from FSU on Saturday night as he announced on Sunday afternoon that he would be flipped his commitment from the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes to the Florida State Seminoles.
Blount recently reclassified from the 2025 recruiting cycle to the 2024 recruiting cycle. As a result, he will be able to enroll with the Seminoles in January 2024.
The coaching staff has to be flexing its muscles with this recruiting victory. They were able to go into the Hurricanes’ backyard and acquire a highly-touted prospect at a position of need. Especially, after Miami defeated the likes of Clemson at home on Saturday night in overtime.
I realize that fans might understandably still be frustrated about Class of 2024 five-star defensive lineman target LJ McCray choosing the Florida Gators over the likes of Florida State. However, this acquisition of Blount for the Seminoles should not go unnoticed.
FSU now have three defensive linemen in their 2024 recruiting class with four-star defensive end DD Holmes, three-star defensive tackle Jamorie Flagg, and now five-star defensive end Armondo Blount.
I envision the Seminoles getting at least one more defensive lineman to round out their recruiting class. I would monitor four-star defensive tackle Artavius Jones (Miami commit), four-star defensive tackle Nasir Johnson (Florida commit), and three-star defensive tackle D’Nas White.
