FSU football has a big decision day for Class of 2024 five-star defensive lineman target LJ McCray from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida.

McCray took an official visit to Florida State during the weekend where the Seminoles defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies by a score of 39-17.

While the talented defender had an opportunity to commit in the summer after he concluded his official visits to Florida, Georgia, Auburn, and Miami, he elected to wait until he officially visited the Seminoles before making his decision.

Unfortunately, McCray recently received a crystal ball prediction in favor of the arch-rival Florida Gators last night from Noles247 Contributor Zach Blostein.

However, it seems like the Seminoles’ coaching staff had a plan in place for if McCray committed elsewhere.

On Saturday afternoon, Blostein put in a crystal ball prediction with a confidence level of 6 out of 10 in favor of Florida State for Class of 2025 five-star defensive end target Armondo Blount from Miami Central High School in Miami, Florida.

247Sports Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and InsideTheU Staff Writer Gaby Urrutia also put in crystal ball prediction for Florida State.

Blount has been committed to the Miami Hurricanes since September 14th. To make matters even better, there is a possibility that Blount could reclassify to the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Disclaimer: Blount probably noticed that he would not have much of a home-field advantage if he elects to sign with the Hurricanes (kidding… maybe).

In all seriousness though, this would be a massive get for the Seminoles’ coaching staff. Florida State will likely have to replace the likes of redshirt junior defensive end Jared Verse at the conclusion of the 2023 season.

Blount would certainly be a great start in accumulating talent on the defensive line for the future. While it would sting to see McCray choose the Gators, the Miami Central High School standout is an excellent prospect.
