FSU football: Duke unveils uniform combination in matchup with Seminoles
FSU football is gearing up for its home matchup against the Duke Blue Devils Saturday night.
The game will be televised on ABC where there numerous individuals tuning in to see the Seminoles in action.
Uniform combinations are certainly a topic of discussion that is worth mentioning. Even though I’m quite biased, I believe that the Florida State Seminoles’ garnet and gold color scheme is one of the best in all of college football.
However, I realize that a variety of high school prospects as well as the younger generation of fans would probably like to see the Seminoles stray away from their traditional uniforms from time to time.
On Thursday night, Duke announced that they would be wearing their all-white uniform combination, which features white helmets, white jerseys, and white pants. This got me wondering what the Seminoles will do in terms of their own personal uniform combination for the game.
While Florida State’s social media account does not usually release uniform combination information until the day of the game, we could have some fun and speculate what it could be.
In my own personal opinion, I would love to see FSU stick with their traditional uniforms. But let’s take a look back at what the Seminoles have won in their previous home matchups against the Blue Devils:
•2004: Gold helmets, garnet jerseys, and garnet pants
•2007: Gold helmets, black jerseys, and black pants
•2012: Gold helmets, garnet jerseys and gold pants
•2020: Gold helmets, black jerseys, and garnet pants
When Florida State unveiled their new uniform designs during the 2023 Spring Showcase, they only included garnet and white jerseys. There were no black jerseys included in the unveiling.
The Seminoles wore gold helmets, garnet jerseys, and garnet pants during their 41-3 victory over Syracuse. They have only worn the garnet and gold traditional uniform combination twice this season (when they played Virginia Tech at home and LSU in a neutral-site matchup).
It would certainly make the most sense for Florida State to wear the traditional uniforms given that it is a prime time ABC game with numerous people watching. I will side with the Seminoles sticking with that combination (gold helmets, garnet jerseys, and gold pants).
