FSU football has four defensive back prospects committed to their 2024 recruiting class in five-star cornerback Charles Lester III, five-star safety KJ Bolden, four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III, and three-star safety CJ Heard.

However, the Seminoles are attempting to add one or two more defensive back prospects to the fold. One notable prospect to monitor is three-star defensive back Chalil Cummings from Bradford High School in Starke, Florida, who will be attending Florida State’s home contest against the Syracuse Orange.

We at ChopChat decided to conduct a Q&A with the talented defender to give fans more insight about him as a prospect.

Q&A WITH CUMMINGS

Q: What would you say is your best trait as a football player? What is something that you feel that you could improve upon?

A: ”My best trait is my versatility and being able to play both sides of the ball (even special teams). I can do whatever is needed for the team to win. I could definitely improve on my speed and getting faster.”

Q: What factors are most important to you in your recruitment process when picking the school of your choice? What stands out to you about the Seminoles?

A: “Knowing that a coach or staff member is going to make sure that I stay on track on the field and in the classroom and help maintain my mental health. FSU stands out to me the most because of the relationships that the coaches make with the players. They make you feel like family.”

Q: What was it like receiving an offer from Florida State? What coach do you communicate with the most on staff?

A: ”When I got offered by FSU, it felt like all of the hard work that I was putting in was starting to pay off, but I told myself not to get complacent and keep working. It gets greater later!”

Q: What positions do you play at your high school? What position is Florida State recruiting you as?

A: “I mainly play WR and DB. I also play all special teams, I’m a jack of all trades.”

Q: I know that you will be in attendance for Florida State’s game against Syracuse. What are you looking for when you are on the visit?

A: ”I’m looking for them to go about their business and see the dogs do what dogs do: DOMINATE IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE GAME!”
