FSU football fans heard from Miami fans all offseason and the early part of the 2023 season. It’s a tale as old as time, as Miami will beat up on cupcakes early in the season and fold when they start playing against decent teams.

The early win they had against Texas A&M looks fraudulent, as that team is 4-3 now. Miami gave a win away last week as Mario Cristobal forgot to tell Tyler Van Dyke to take a knee in victory formation against Georgia Tech.

Van Dyke was on his knees a lot against North Carolina Saturday night, as they beat him up, sending him to the turf numerous times in a 41-31 win. The game wasn’t that close, as Miami scored a late touchdown with 2:17 remaining in the game.

The crazy part is North Carolina’s QB, Drake Maye didn’t play his best game, and North Carolina put up 40 points after only scoring 14 in the first half. North Carolina had 14 penalties for 147 yards, which didn’t help their cause.

However, Miami turned the ball over four times(including an interception on the final play to end the game).

One of those turnovers took a touchdown off the board as Miami’s running back fumbled the ball inches before breaking the plane to cross the goal line.

Thoughts

Miami fought hard in a must-win game to keep any hope alive to make the ACC championship game, but it wasn’t enough. I said all preseason, and in the early weeks this season, Miami is a flawed team that hadn’t played a good team yet.

That has bore out over the past two weeks and will likely continue to show up next week when they host the Clemson Tigers, who are coming off a bye week. As a FSU fan, it glorious to see Miami fans have to eat crow for all the nonsense they have been spouting the past few weeks and months. All Miami fans can do now is turn their attention to their Superbowl, when they travel to Tallahassee to take another L in a couple of weeks.
