Avoid Turnovers

Much of the narrative surrounding the FSU football team is due to its lackluster performance against an inferior Boston College program. The Noles were over three touchdown betting favorites in that game before two costly turnovers swung the momentum in their favor.

Turnovers are a common denominator in helping inferior teams keep games close or pull off an upset. FSU has won the turnover battle in every game, except agaisnst Boston College, and the FSU defense has forced a turnover in every game.

The FSU offense has only turned the ball over twice this season, a Jordan Travis interception against LSU and the Lawrance Toafili fumble that got returned for a touchdown against Boston College. Virginia Tech has three interceptions and recovered three fumbles in five games.

They have also turned it over six times. FSU should be fine as long as they are even or no worse than -1 in the turnover department Saturday afternoon.

They definitely want to avoid a turnover early in the game to avoid Virginia Tech finding some confidence early. The Hokies will likely run the ball frequently, and that clock will be rolling.
