FSU football released its projected depth chart for its home matchup on Saturday, October 7th, against the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Here are my takeaways from the depth chart:

Takeaways

The projected depth chart looks relatively similar to the one from their matchup versus Clemson. However, I did notice a few noteworthy aspects.

•Caziah Holmes is listed with the -or- designation at the running back position with Rodney Hill. The former Penn State transfer only has four attempts for 63 yards and one touchdown this season.

•Kentron Poitier is listed behind Johnny Wilson at the wide receiver position. The big-bodied playmaker has not made an appearance this season due to an injury.

•Maurice Smith is no longer listed as the -or- designation with Darius Washington at the center position. The veteran offensive lineman has been dealing with an injury.

•Robert Scott Jr. still has an -or- designation with Bless Harris at the left tackle position. Harris has been performing admirably in relief for Scott Jr.

•Jeremiah Byers is still listed at right tackle. Some individuals were wondering if he would be moved to the guard position.

Akeem Dent is still listed with the -or-designation with Kevin Knowles II at the safety position. The talented defensive back did not play in FSU’s victory over the Clemson Tigers.

Closing Thoughts

The Florida State Seminoles look to come out sharp on Saturday afternoon after having their much-needed bye week. Since the Seminoles are favored by four possessions, could this contest be an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate some younger options in the second half as FSU prepares for the second game of their three-game homestand against the Syracuse Orange? Nonetheless, the Seminoles cannot underestimate the Hokies by any means.
