Ryan Fitzgerald 48-yard FG

I’ve already written a piece on the FSU special teams unit in their role in the overtime win over Clemson. However, I can’t explain how far kicker Ryan Fitzgerald has come in a year.

A year ago, Mike Norvell would have called the game differently because Ryan Fitzgerald couldn’t make an extra point at times, much less attempt a 48-yard field goal on the road in Death Valley with the game in the balance.

I really believe FSU would have lost the game if Fitzgerald made that kick. It gave the Noles some much-needed confidence and tied the game back up.

Not only did Fitzgerald make the kick, but he crushed it, and it went over the cross bar with plenty to spare. Kudos to you, Ryan Fitzgerald.
