Depth at the safety position could be a concern for the Seminoles

This issue is not a new discovery for FSU football, as the program does not have a deep rotation at the safety position. Unfortunately, Florida State went all-in on transfer Jaylen Key this offseason, who chose to commit to Alabama.

This situation meant that FSU had to roll with what they had in the defensive backfield. Redshirt senior Akeem Dent and redshirt sophomore Shyheim Brown are listed as the starting safeties.

However, Dent has been battling an injury where he missed the most recent contest versus Clemson. As a result, the Seminoles have relied upon Kevin Knowles II, who recently switched positions from cornerback to safety this offseason. It has certainly been a mixed bag of results, when it comes to performance from the converted defensive back.

Nonetheless, the defensive unit should hopefully be getting Dent back in the fold in the near future, which should help with depth at the position.
