FSU football: 3 huge overreactions to Boston College win
By Kelvin Hunt
Lack of Running Game
Here’s something to think about. The FSU offense scored 31 points on their first six possessions and punted on their next five. I was critical of some of the playcalling in the game. I felt the Noles got too pass-happy, particularly on first down.
There were times Jordan Travis forced the ball into coverage when guys were open underneath or in the flats.
There were times Jordan Travis should have placed the ball on the back shoulder and missed. FSU ran the ball, but I didn’t feel like they consistently committed to it.
Is it Mike Norvell trying to work around missing two starters on the offensive line? Is Mike Norvell trying not to reveal too much before they play Clemson next week?
The FSU offense is at its best when establishing its running game to set up the pass. They haven’t done that since the second half of the LSU game. Instead, there have been no scheming receivers open like normal after establishing the run game.
I think we see all that change next week against Clemson. However, I want to see more Rodney Hill next week, because Trey Benson has been timid through two games.
