FSU football dominated Southern Miss with ease, and moved up to No. 3 nationally in the AP Poll, with Alabama losing to Texas Saturday night.

The Noles received the second-most first-place votes (3) for the second consecutive week behind Georgia. Michigan received two first-place votes in the No. 2 AP ranking after defeating UNLV 35-7 in week two.

However, FSU may argue for the best team in the country right now. Georgia hasn’t defeated a Power 5 team yet, defeating UT-Martin and Ball State in the first two weeks.

They are the two-time defending National champions, but I think folks realize FSU can match up with anyone in the country through two games.

The Noles will play their first road game on Saturday when they travel to Boston College for a noon kickoff.

Boston College is a terrible team, and the Noles will be huge betting favorites. Georgia will host South Carolina, and Michigan will play Bowling Green.

The Wolverines have yet to play a Power 5 team, so, weirdly, they have received first-place votes when they haven’t beaten anyone good yet. FSU will play their second-ranked opponent when they travel to play Clemson in week four.

That game was the one circled on the calendar in the preseason, with FSU having not beaten Clemson since the 2014 season. The Tigers have looked vulnerable through two games and are not ranked after opening the season at No. 9.

Miami creeps into the top-25 at No. 22 after beating an overrated Texas A&M team. North Carolina and Duke are the other two ACC schools ranked at No. 20 and No. 21. The Noles will face Duke in Tallahassee in a few weeks and won’t face Miami until November 11.

Miami will play Clemson and North Carolina in back-to-back weeks before traveling to Tallahassee. What if both teams get to that game undefeated? Talk about a showdown!
