Lots of young guys looked good

The number of young guys that got in the game was staggering, and many of them made plays when their numbers got called. Hykeem Williams had his first college reception on an important fourth down conversion.

Destyn Hill finally got his first college reception, and Vandrevius Jacob’s first college reception went for a touchdown. We saw freshmen Blake Nichelson and Justin Cryer at linebacker, and Nichelson looked solid in coverage, nearly getting an interception way down the field.

Redshirt linebacker Omar Graham Jr. was out there early, and several guys in the secondary played a lot of snaps.

Freshman defensive back Edwin Joseph should have had his first career interception, and Conrad Hussey may have had one if the officiating crew had reviewed the play. Ja’Bril Rawls had a couple of pass breakups, and Ashlynd Barker was out there a bit.

The young offensive linemen got into the game and didn’t look out of place, leading the way on some big running plays in the second half.

I keep saying this team is set up to not have a huge drop off after this year, and this is only more evidence to support that sentiment.
