No. 4 FSU football will host their first home football game of the 2023 season at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday night. The Noles will take on the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles.

The two teams haven’t faced one another since the 2017 season, where FSU won 42-13 in the Independence Bowl. James Blackman was the offensive MVP of the game.

It was a game where Odell Haggins was the interim head coach after Jimbo Fisher departed for the brown pastures at Texas A&M. FSU demolished previously ranked No. 5 LSU 45-24 in the season opener Sunday night.

Southern Mississippi dominated Alcorn State 40-14 in their season opener Saturday.

The Noles have won seven straight dating back to last season and scored 35+ in each of those games, the longest active streak in the nation.

Here’s a look at the TV/streaming information and game time as No. 4 FSU hosts Southern Mississippi at Doak Campbell Stadium on Sep. 9, with the kickoff time set for 8:30 p.m. ET.

How to watch FSU football vs. Southern Mississippi

  • TV/Stream: ACC Network
  • Radio/Audio Stream: Seminoles Media
  • Game time: 8:30 p.m. ET
  • Live Stats: FSU Stats
  • Weather: 79 degrees, 80 percent humidity, 15 percent chance or rain at kickoff

This game features the Noles as 31-point betting favorites, with an over/under points total of 53. That total implies a 43-10 FSU win.

It’s a game where FSU football should have the edge in virtually every category and will look to build a lead to take the starters out so many young players can play some valuable reps to help build depth for the future.

FSU leads the all-time series 14-8-1. The Noles have won the last two recent meetings in 2017 and 1996.

The last time the Golden Eagles defeated the Noles was behind future NFL star QB Brett Favre in 1989. They’d probably need Favre and a bit more for a chance to upset the Noles Saturday night.
