No. 4 FSU football will host their first home football game of the 2023 season at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday night.

The Noles will take on the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. FSU is 31-point betting favorites with an over/under points total of 53.

It’s a game against a solid Group of Five program that should be good enough to provide valuable input for the coaches once the non-starters enter the game.

I’d imagine that will be sometime in the third quarter of the second half. FSU has some of the top players in college football, but it’s important for the non-starters to get reps so they’ll have some game experience when starters head to the NFL or exhaust their eligibility.

We saw a few reserves get into the LSU game later in the second half with varying success. However, this Southern Mississippi game should provide more opportunities to see more of those players.

Not only is it good to build depth, but it’s good for team culture as the starters cheer on the success of the non-starters/freshmen. Here are five players I want to see shine
against Southern Miss.
