FSU football is now the talk of the college football landscape after defeating No. 5 LSU Tigers in dominating fashion by a score of 45-24.

While our ChopChat score predictions did not forecast that blowout result, everyone was confident that head football Mike Norvell and company could get the job done to start the season with a 1-0 record.

The newly-ranked No. 4 Florida State Seminoles are now entering their home season opener on a short game week against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday, September 9th at 8:30 PM EST, which will televise on the ACC Network.

The football team has been emphasizing all the right things this week, focusing on the Golden Eagles, who are 31-point underdogs. FSU has their first true road trip next week against Boston College in a sleepy noon kickoff, but first-things first, take care of business against Southern Miss.

Their offensive unit led by do-it-all running back Frank Gore Jr. (son of former NFL running back Frank Gore), who only had six carries for 29 yards and one touchdown in their 40-14 victory against Alcorn State. The Miami (FL) native is a very talented back and can cause opposing defenders to look silly.

The defense of Florida State will need to focus on making tackles setting the tone early in stopping the run. Quarterback Jordan Travis and the other starters will look to make their mark in the first half, and get out of the contest injury-free, where it will allow them to gain confidence heading into Chestnut Hill.

The expectation is that fans should be happy when leaving Doak Campbell Stadium late Saturday night.
