FSU football: Top 10 bold predictions for 2023 season
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU Offense will average 7.3 ypp or more
This prediction is kind of crazy, considering FSU averaged 6.96 yards per play last season. However, the offensive line looks bigger and stronger, with Alex Atkins going into this second year as coordinator.
Jordan Travis knows the offense inside and out. Trey Benson and Johnny Wilson know the offense even better, as the were transfers last year. There should be fewer negative plays, and the passing plays should be explosive. Mike Norvell has gone over 7.3 ypp with lesser talent while at Memphis.
I expect more explosive plays from the wide receivers, and there should be more explosive running plays with better overall talent at running back and better offensive line. I know the explosive passes will be there, but I think we see a few more long runs from the running backs in 2023.
FSU allowed 77 tackles for a loss in 2022, and I expect that number to decrease in 2023. That alone would help improve the overall yards per average.
