Former FSU football standout Jacques Patrick made the most of his chances in an NFL Preseason game against the New England Patriots.

If you recall, Patrick signed with the Tennessee Titans recently, and appeared in their second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Patrick had eight rushes for 29 yards. I’m sure there was some game rust, along with learning the offense after only signing recently. However, Patrick shined in his second outing with the Titans in a 23-7 win over the New England Patriots.

Patrick led the Titans with 15 rushing attempts, 76 rushing yards, and caught both pass attempts for 18 yards.

Patrick caught the eye of some people watching, and looked impressive for someone that hasn’t in a football game or involved in organized practices for months.

He ran with power and looked to deliver the blow instead of receiving it. FSU football fans remember how he’d be in the open field, and point out a would-be defender, and then run him over. Patrick didn’t necessarily point anyone out Friday night, but was the aggressor.

Video Highlights

Patrick always had soft hands for a bigger running back, so it’s good to see him showing all the facets of his game. Jacques Patrick has 23 rushing attempts, 105 rushing yards, two receptions for 18 receiving yards through two preseason games.

Derrick Henry is the starting running back for the Titans, one of the most physically imposing backs in the NFL at 6’3″ and 247 pounds. Here’s the scary part, Patrick lists at 6’2″ and 239 pounds.

Can you imagine opposing teams dealing with Jacques Patrick coming into the game fresh after dealing with Derrick Henry all game. Patrick isn’t Henry, of course, but that’s a ton of size with some speed. It would almost be like Henry didn’t come out of the game.

Here’s to hoping Patrick continues to play well and gets a shot to help the Titans.
