Offensive Line

The offensive line is a unit FSU football fans have become familiar with over the years. It’s group that continues to improve every year under Alex Atkins, as they use the transfer portal to improve depth, overall talent level, while allowing some talented young guys to develop without getting thrown in the fire too quickly.

It’s a unit that always has to deal with injuries because of the nature of the position. FSU lost a transfer last season before he ever played a down and lost their starting tackle after the first game.

FSU finally has 8-10 offensive linemen they feel comfortable putting out there. The challenge is figuring out which five give them the best unit. Maurice Smith will be the starter at center, but there are still battles taking place, and a few guys are working themselves into the mix after missing some time with injury rehab.

There will be several new faces regardless, so how long it takes the unit to gel will be important. What will the rotation be, and will they be better a pass protection? The latter could be a difference-maker with the weapons FSU has at receiver.
