FSU football had its first scrimmage of its 2023 fall camp. I wrote about some of the standouts and major takeaways from the scrimmage here.

FSU coaches feel confident about where the team is as they transition into week two. There’s a ton of competition at multiple positions, which is a testament to the depth they’ve built through the transfer portal and high school recruiting over the past few years.

There are some obvious positions where we know who the starter will be. Jordan Travis, Trey Benson, Jared Verse, Patrick Payton, Maurice Smith, Tatum Bethune, Kalen DeLoach, Johnny Wilson, Keon Coleman, Jaheim Bell, Alex Mastramanno, Fabien Lovett, Braden Fiske, Greedy Vance, Akeem Dent, and Shyheim Brown come to mind off the top of my head as starters.

That is the majority of the starting positions. However, there’s so much depth at some positions it won’t matter who starts the game because they’ll be on a rotation of sorts to keep everyone fresh.

There are some important battles ongoing, and some players need to solidify themselves for certain roles as fall camp progresses.

Here are five storylines to follow through week two of fall camp.
